Why AI is a Teammate, Not a Replacement
Remember all the ones headlines a few years back?
AI is coming for your job!
Robots will rule the world!
While Artificial Intelligence has undeniably transformed many industries, here’s the coolest news: those predictions of a robotic rebellion haven’t pretty come real.
In fact, AI is shaping up to be more of a teammate than a replacement. Because:
1. Human touch matters: Machine learning overall is better at analyzing data and handling repetitive tasks but it has no personality. Interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, aesthetics, and concern are some skills that play an important role in various areas of life and business: these are areas in which AI has not yet been able to excel.
2. AI enhances, not replaces: AI risks being a tool for empowering growth rather than a case/solution displacing whole industries. Just like how doctors will one day use AI to scan their patients’ tests and get a result faster, or how lawyers will use AI to go research for them. Thereby revealing that AI serves to enhance human workers in what they do best while elevating routine work to a higher level.
3. The future is collaborative: Makers of the future, therefore, are workplaces that develop human-AI collaboration. People initiate innovation, imagination while Artificial Intelligence deals with computations, pattern identification. This can bring the best out of everybody and lead to the development of major improvements and greater output.
Well, if you are not familiar, it will be something new for you to learn, and if you do know, then you go back to basics to remembering what you have forgotten.
→ Focus on your strengths: To clarify, determine which set of abilities set you apart from a robot and are indispensable in today’s work environment.
→ Embrace lifelong learning: It is important to understand and remember that the nature of work is not static and therefore, the individual should be ready to learn or rather, change.
→ Become an AI pro: Awareness of the processes that underlie AI and knowledge of how to use it will become a valuable commodity in the future employment market.
Let it be clear, this is not about automation replacing people, although we know that automation is already happening and won’t stop. It may be perceived as a way to do things more efficiently; less time-consuming, and to participate in the creation of an innovative world of work.
